"Discount Code Didn’t Work"
I tried using the promo code at checkout and, of course, it didn’t work. this is exactly what I expected because these discount codes always seem to be useless whenever I try them. Frustrating.

"Wish I’d read the reviews before ordering internationally"
I ordered a book from boydellandbrewer.com the international shipping was a headache. It took way longer than I expected, and the tracking barely updated, so I had no real idea where my package was for most of the time. When it finally showed up, the package was beaten up too. Maybe it’s fine if you’re ordering locally, but for overseas shipping, I definitely wouldn’t do it again. I really wish I’d read the reviews first before placing my order.

The shipping cost seemed kinda high to me. Maybe it’s because of the packaging or where it shipped from, I’m not really sure, but it definitely added more to the total than I expected.

"Checkout was more frustrating than it should’ve been"
The payment page kept acting weird when I was trying to check out, which got annoying. I’ve used similar sites where the checkout is much smoother and faster, so this definitely stood out in a bad way. The rest of the experience was fine, but the payment part could really use some work.

"Honestly, not great for authors or editors"
I was hoping this would be a smoother experience, but it really wasn’t. Replies took forever, the whole process felt way more confusing than it needed to be, and after a while I was just thinking, give me a break. For authors or editors, I don’t think it’s worth the hassle.

"Book quality was not too good"
I was kind of disappointed with this book when it came. The cover was already bent, and the pages feel really thin, like not nice to turn them. Also the binding got loose fast after only a little use. So yeah, the story might be fine, but the actual book quality is bad.

"Refund process just felt slower than it should’ve"
Returning my order ended up being more of a hassle than I expected. It took a while to get any response, and the refund definitely wasn’t quick either. My gut says it wasn’t a total disaster, but it still felt more annoying than it needed to be.

"Book showed up a bit rough"
I ordered a book from Boydell and Brewer, and it wasn’t in the best shape when it arrived. The cover was mostly fine, but the inside was kind of rough, some pages looked faded, and a few had odd marks here and there. It’s readable, so it’s not a total loss, but for what I paid I expected the print to look cleaner and more solid. Just felt like the quality wasn’t quite there

"Book turned up damaged thanks to poor packaging"
I ordered a book from Boydell & Brewer and was disappointed when it arrived. It was sent in this thin cardboard mailer with no padding at all, which felt a bit careless for something that’s supposed to stay in good condition.

By the time it reached me, the corners were bashed and there was a crease on the cover. These books aren’t exactly cheap, so I’d assumed they’d take a bit more care with packaging, especially for customers who likely want the book to arrive looking decent.

I contacted them about it, but from the tone of the reply, I got the impression they weren’t especially bothered. Maybe that’s not what they meant, but it definitely didn’t feel very reassuring. I don’t think I’d order again unless they seriously improve how they pack things

"Catalogue is a bit too limited"
I was expecting a wider selection, but the catalogue felt narrow unless you already know the exact academic titles you’re looking for. There are definitely some good books in there, to be fair, but browsing wasn’t exactly enjoyable and I didn’t come across much beyond a few specific topics. It’s fine for what it is, but it could really use more variety.

"Too pricey, and I expected quicker help"
I was surprised by how expensive the books were on Boydell & Brewer. A few titles caught my eye, but the prices felt hard to justify for someone just buying for personal interest.

I know academic books can cost more than regular ones, but this still seemed a bit much. Shipping added to the frustration, and I also expected a faster response when looking into things.

For that kind of money, I would’ve expected better value, better deals, or at least a smoother experience. In the end, I didn’t buy anything because it just didn’t feel worth it to me.

"Getting to my ebook was such a hassle"
I bought an ebook just trying to open it was way more frustrating than it needed to be. The login kept looping me around, then I’d try again and end up in the same place, and it just felt like I was clicking in circles forever. Once I finally got in, the reader on my laptop was clunky too, really clunky. It worked eventually, but between the login issues and the awkward reader, it was not a smooth experience at all...

"Not much for what I needed"
I was hoping to find a wider range of history and music topics, but the selection felt limited and wasn’t very easy to browse. I also expected clearer instructions on how to find the right materials, since I wasn’t always sure where to look. In the end, I didn’t find much that was useful for my course.

I ordered a book and the tracking didn’t tell me much. It sat on the same status for days, so I couldn’t tell if it had even shipped yet. The book did show up eventually, but it was later than I thought it’d be and the updates were unclear. Not a terrible experience overall, but the tracking could definitely be better

I got the order confirmation email, but after that it was just silence. No real update, no dispatch info, and I’m still waiting. It’s kinda frustrating when they take your order and then don’t keep you in the loop

The site is really hard to use. Pages take forever to load, and the checkout process kept confusing me at different steps. What made it more annoying is that when I tried to get help, it felt like nobody really wanted to take ownership of the issue. I just kept getting passed around without a clear fix.
